Book design for the first two books of “Pika Pika” series by Professor Takashi Saito. These books tell you fun of Haiku and the Analects of Confucius. The author, Professor Saito is known as a specialist of Japanese linguistic, especially in educational contexts. His lecture is clear and easy to understand, so elementary school students can also enjoy reading. We aimed to represent both intellectual and friendly tones of these two books. Logically composed, but sumptuously illustrated pages attract readers. Illustrations are by Ichio Ootsuka and photogaraphs are by Jun Imajo.
