数々の伝説的CMを手がけた電通の名クリエイター杉山恒太郎さんの著書『クリエイティブマインド つくるチカラを引き出す40の言葉たち』のブックデザイン。クリエイティビティにまつわる「ものの考え方=マインド」を示すことで、つくり手の創造性を刺激し、才能発揮をうながす、そんな杉山さんの言葉と解説がまとまった書籍。多くの示唆に富んだ杉山さんの言葉は正に「金言」。ゆえにタイトルは金の箔押しに。Creative Mindの頭文字”CM”をコマーシャルの名作を数多く残す杉山さんならではの記号として、 商標記号の”TM”の様にタイトルのそばにあしらいました。

Book design for Kotaro Sugiyama’s book, “Creative Mind”. He is known as a legendary creative director of Dentsu, the largest and most successful advertising company in Japan. Through 40 simple and strong catch phrases, he teaches us a working method and keys to success as an imaginative creator. This book is full of his “golden sayings”, so we chose a gold embossing design for the cover. For a playful touch, we put a little “CM” mark next to the title just like a “TM” trademark symbol. It is taken from the initial of “Creative Mind”, and also symbolizes Mr. Sugiyama’s life devoted to creating many commercials.
