長い歳月をかけ、
文字はその造形と機能を
磨き、極めてきた。
畏怖の念を抱きながら、
文字を解体し、
抽出したエレメントに触れ、
あらためて文字の造形や
字義の奥深さに驚嘆した。
文字の様に、
機能性と、時代を越える
美的価値を兼ね備えた
デザインを具現化できたら。
人類と文字が辿ってきた
気の遠くなるような時間とは
比べようも無い、
短い時間の中で、
そんな理想に近づくべく、
これからも文字に
触れていく。
This is my own solo exhibition named ‘Typescape’ which is to show people the unique shape of Kanji(Chinese Character). Kanji characters are ideograms developed from hieroglyphics, the shapes and the elements’ combinations have their own meaning. I disjointed Kanji Characters and extracted the smallest elements, then laid out them carefully in the space. To exhibit the elements in three- dimensional space, I expected people to discover another aspect of our mother language.
